Vegan Baos at Yes! Bao Karrinyup - VEGAN EATS: PERTH

Yes! Bao store front

Yes! Bao is an Asian-fusion food stall in Karrinyup Shopping Centre (Level One, The Café Terrace). And yep, you guessed it - they specialise in baos! In fact, they are "The Best Bao in the West!" That's quite the reputation to live up to.

So, we put their vegan baos to the ultimate taste test!

Vegan Eats at Yes! Bao:

Yes! Bao offers three vegan options. Of course, we had to try them all.

Vegan options at Yes! Baos:

  • Veggie Fritter

  • Pumpkin

  • Veggie (filled Bao)

Veggie Fritter

This one stole the show for me! The Veggie Fritter boasts a mixture of flavours, including cucumber, onion, carrot, burdock, beans, pickled carrots, and a hint of spice from the chilli jam. Don't be intimidated by the chilli symbol on the menu. It's more of a sweet chilli sensation and won't set your mouth on fire. Personally, I'm a spice lover, but the crispness of the fried veggie fritter paired with the freshness of cucumber and pickled carrot, made it an absolute winner. Light, refreshing, and full of flavour!

Pumpkin

If you're a pumpkin lover - this bao is for you. The Pumpkin bao stars fried pumpkin, cucumber, spring onion, pickled carrot, and that delightful chilli jam. It has a similar flavour profile to the Veggie Fritter but feels heartier, creamier, and warmer. It's the perfect choice for a chilly winter day.

Veggie filled Bao

Now, if you're a fan of savoury goodness, the Veggie filled Bao has your name written all over it. Packed with shiitake mushrooms, tofu, and veggies, it may not be as flavourful as the other two vegan options, but it gives a warm and comforting experience that's simply delicious.

While Yes! Bao's vegan options might not overflow with variety, they more than make up for it with how delicious their vegan options taste. Trust me, their vegan baos are a must-try!

So, when you find yourself shopping at Karrinyup, make sure to treat yourself to a (or two) vegan boas at Yes! Bao.
